Emphasises the importance of the Erasmus and People programmes for the mobility of students, professors and researchers in Europe and for the modernisation of Europe's universities; urges Member States to support and promote the exchange of professors and assist the higher education institutions in addressing shortcomings in the recognition of qualifications acquired through student exchange, in particular in the context of the Erasmus programme, as these shortcomings may lower interest amongst students;
