Welcomes the fact that the strategy reflects an understanding that protectionism has no place in the EU’s internal or external policies and that European goods and services are part of global value chains which make protectionist measures self-defeating; Considers that the current trade defence system in the EU needs to be updated to provide a suitable answer to unfair behaviour which affects international trade in a globalised world;
