By way of derogation from paragraph 6, a Member State that has more than 60 passenger ships made from aluminium alloy flying its flag on [date of entry into force] may exempt, until [insert the date 14 years after the transposition date referred to in the second subparagraph of Article 2(1)] passenger ships of Classes B, C and D which are made from aluminium alloy from the provisions of this Directive, provided there is no reduction in the level of safety and any exempted passenger ship was built before [transposition date referred to in the second subparagraph of Article 2(1)] and operates exclusively between ports of that Member State.
