Asks the European Commission to take due account of the UNESCO Convention on cultural diversity and the Council of Europe recommendation on the remit of public service media in the information society, when making a decision about the necessity of a revision of the EC Broadcasting Communication. In case the European Commission decides to revise the existing guidelines, the European Parliament asks that any measure or clarification proposed is measured against its impact on media pluralism and duly respects member states competences;
