Recalls that the EU cohesion policy is vital for strengthening economic, social and territorial cohesion and has a direct impact on citizens’ lives; Deeply regrets the proposed cuts in cohesion policy as set out by the Commission in its MFF proposal; strongly believe that making part of the allocation of European funds conditional on the European Semester and economic governance is against the main principles of cohesion policy and has adverse effects; Stresses the key importance of structural funds for the stimulation of public investment, taking into account their strong multiplier effect;
