Reiterates its call, therefore, that in the near future the eligibility threshold for regional natural disasters should be set at 1 % of regional GDP, in particular for the regions worst affected by the economic crisis and the refugee crisiswhatever the level of economic development of the affected region;

Recalls that the purpose of the EUSF is to mobilise funds rapidly in order to provide financial assistance to regions of European Union Member States that have been devastated by natural disasters, and that it must, in no case, be diverted from its original purpose; insists that this fund must not be activated for the purposes of managing the current migration crisis or financing the reception of illegal migrants;
