Warmly welcomes the signature of the Association Agreement, as constituting a significant step forward in EU-Moldova relations and embodying a commitment to the path of Considers it advisable to assess carefully, before signing the Association Agreement, the sustainability of that agreement for the Moldovan economy, also in view of the economic crisis, the new geopolitical associsituation and economic integration; stresses that full implementation thereofthe sanctions imposed on Moldova by Russia, which have had a negative impact on its keyexports;

16. Takes note of the improvement in the capacities of the customs and border guard services and the continued demarcation of the border with Ukraine; welcomes the work ofexpresses concern over the flourishing illegal arms trafficking originating in Transnistria, exemplified in 2009 by the disappearance of 10 Alazan missiles from an arsenal near Tiraspol; considers it advisable, therefore, to strengthen the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) and the constructive cooperation ofwith the Moldovan authorities in order to counter this problem effectively;
