(na) EU and its member states should better equip themselves to counter coordinated stigmatization campaigns against peaceful protesters, human rights defenders and civic and political activists, including by ensuring consistent and strong public messaging in support of human right defenders at all levels of decision-making, ensuring timely and visible responses to attacks on human rights and the rule of law, improving the impact of trial monitoring efforts by systematizing follow up and increasing visibility, and make increased and more flexible funding available to civil society organizations and human rights defenders;
