Calls on the Commission to submit gradual measures to reduce the rate of pollution from ferries which use fossil fuels, to the extent of 50% in 10 years and 100% in 20 years, financing wholly or in part the conversion of the ferries' propulsion systems; to promote, through the port authorities, the development in the Mediterranean of a gas-based fuel distribution network, in order to encourage shipowners to use ferries with dual-fuel engines (diesel/gas);
