Expresses the view that the less developed regions with negative demographic trends, mountainous or remote ones with low accessibility should be targeted more intensively by ERDF and CF transport infrastructure investments, while additional sources and delivery methods should be expanded in the transition and more developed regions;

Underlines the role of macroregional strategies for integrated transport projects which bring added value for EU and non-EU member states; calls on the Commission and Member States for better coordination of transport plans and projects with candidate and neighbouring countries in order to achieve more effective and efficient use of EU resources under ESIF, pre-accession and other programmes and funding instruments;
