Highlights the fact that all people have the right to a decent public pension, and recalls that the Union recognises the entitlement to social security benefits and social services which provide protection in the event of old age or dependency, disability or dependency on long-term care; reminds in this context that the right of older persons to live in dignity and independently is enshrined in art. 25 of the EU Charter of Fundamental rights;
