Recalls the appalling fume exposure experiments conducted on humans and monkeys by the European Research Group of Environment and Health in the Transport Sector (EUGT), a body funded by major car companies; recalls that this is not the first car industry scandal of this kind; calls for all research that informs EU policy to be completely independent from the car industry, including by way of funding and subcontracting;

Notes that any uptake in electric vehicles will require an alignment of consumer behaviour with consumer attitude; notes both the current financial barriers and the non-financial barriers that consumers face in undertaking an electric vehicle purchase; therefore welcomes the Commission Recommendation C(2017) 3525, while also calling upon the Commission to consider revising the Car Labelling Directive 1999/94/EC;
