8a. Notwithstanding the requirements of Article 5(3) and Article 17(2), Member States shall authorise the placing on the market of replacement engines of that correspond to category NRE, NRG, NRS, RLL or RLR. Placing on the market of the replacement engines described in the first subparagraph shall be limited to: (a) Comply with the emission limits that the engine to be replaced met when originally placed on the market or any more stringent emission limits; and (b) The emission stage met by the engine to be replaced expired not more than 10 years ago, in case the engine was subject to type approval on ...* or belong to an engine category and power range that became compulsory not more than 10 years ago; and (c) 10 years after the applicable dates for placing on the market of Stage V engines set out in Annex III in case no type approval was required on ....*. –––––––––––––––––– * Date of ...
