Underlines the positive contribution of innovative packaging materials to prevent food losses and food waste along the supply chain, first and foremost packaging which reduces food loss in transport and storage, which preserves the quality and hygiene of food for a longer period, or which extends shelf life; encourages the Commission and the Member States to support the development, deployment and use of various forms of inert and innovative packaging materials (both permanent and non-permanent) which, when recycled into food contact materials, will sustainably reduce food waste, do not endanger human health and contribute significantly to resource efficiency and the circular economy;
