Asks that sufficient funds be earmarked for research and for EU veterinary and phyto- sanitary actions not detrimental to the environment or to diversity; stresses that the current appropriation of EUR 20 million may not be sufficient to cover an increased number of epidemics such as avian influenza, lumpy skin disease and fresh outbreaks of Xylella fastidiosa, Vespa velutina, Tecia solanivora, etc.
