Points out that climate change is undoubtedly a very serious global challengethreat to the environment and humanity and that swift action should remain a priority for the EU; underlines, in this connection, the importance of the Paris Agreement adopted in December 2015 at the COP21, a global milestone for enhancing global collective action and accelerating the global transformation to a low-carbon and climate resilient societywhich failed to create a clear framework for addressing climate change; notes that the aAgreement should sets out a qualitative long-term emissions reduction goal in line with the objective of keeping the global temperature increase well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to keep it to 1.5°C;
