Welcomes the Commission’s initiative to improve the legal protection of consumers as regards intangible digital content; points out that while consumers buying genuine tangible digital content and goods are protected by consumer protection laws, consumer rights when buying intangible digital content remain largely unregulated; agrees that consumers should enjoy a comparablthe same level of protection regardless of whether they purchase digital content and goods online or offline; therefore, calls on the Commission and Member States to take action against the proliferation of both illicit content and goods online, as it still constitutes a major obstacle to creating a sustainable and safe digital market for consumers and businesses;
