Notes that effective risk reduction is key for EDIS and recognises it as a precondition for the establishment of risk- sharing mechanisms such as EDIS; highlights in this regard that proper regulatory treatment of sovereign exposure is required; emphasises that capital requirements must reflect the actual risk borne by banks in the market; highlights that the CMDI review provides co-legislators with an opportunity to resume negotiations on EDIS;
