Recalls the positive developments of the EU-Canada trade agreement (CETA); notes that during its first full calendar year of implementation, bilateral trade in goods, including agri-food products, grew by 10.3 %, compared to the average of the previous three years; recalls that the EU’s trade surplus with Canada rose by 60 % and created additional opportunities for our exporters; deplores that more recent data related to export by EU SMEs and the overall sustainability of the Agreement were not provided to the European Parliament which requested them on several occasions; is concerned about the possible lowering of EU standards by way of CETA committees working outside the supervisory power of European and national Parliaments; regrets the lack of engagement of the Commission on the suggestion of the Canadian side regarding a strengthened implementation and follow-up of the TSD chapter;
