Believes that the EU should engage more with the US in the Western Balkans and eastern Europe in order to build resilient, prosperous, democratic multi- ethnic societies there, capable of resisting the disruptive influence of both local and external authoritarian forces; in this regard, welcomes the renewed engagement of the United States in the Western Balkans; welcomes the constructive role the United States plays in supporting EU enlargement; underlines the EU’s leading role in the process of normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo;

Calls for close cooperation to jointly address the range of threats emanating from the Russian Federation, such as the continued destabilisation of Ukraine and Georgia, and Russia’s continued threat to their respective territorial integrity, interferences in democratic processes in the EU and the US, hybrid threats and disinformation campaigns, while at the same pursuing selective cooperation in the areas of shared transatlantic interest, notably in the area of arms control;
