Continued financial and military support to Ukraine by EU Member States
Euroopan parlamentti on laajalla tuella hyväksynyt päätöslauselman jäsenvaltioiden antaman taloudellisen ja sotilaallisen tuen jatkamisesta Ukrainalle. Pidän tätä lauselmaa välttämättömänä, sillä vankkumaton tuki Ukrainalle on ainoa tie Ukrainan voittoon.
Moldova's resilience against Russian interference ahead of presidential elections, EU integration referendum
The European Parliament has voted on a resolution regarding the Russian Federation's interference in the Republic of Moldova. The resolution was accepted with unwavering support. I wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with the people of the Republic of Moldova and vehemently condemn the nefarious activities of the Russian Federation aimed at undermining the country's sovereignty.Moldova's presidential elections are just around the corner, and Russia, through its malicious activities, has attempted to meddle in the outcome of the elections. Russia has resorted to tactics such as buying votes and backing parties favourable to its agenda. I categorically denounce the malevolent interference perpetrated by the Russian Federation. The methods employed by Russia to interfere in Western democracies are all too familiar to us. Therefore, I support the resolution, as it sends a strong message to Russia that the EU unequivocally condemns its interference. It also stands as a powerful statement of solidarity with Moldova. As Russia attempts to interfere in Western elections, the EU must remain firm and provide unwavering stability for countries such as Moldova.
The democratic backsliding and threats to political pluralism in Georgia
The European Parliament unequivocally backed the resolution on democratic backsliding and threats to political pluralism in Georgia. This resolution is necessary, as Georgia's democratic decline is deeply concerning. This decline is evident in violations of freedom of expression, media censorship, and restrictions on critical voices in civil society and NGOs.The EU must consider the broader geopolitical implications of this issue. Despite the Georgian government's ties with the Russian Federation, the EU must bolster its promises to Georgia to become a member state. We cannot allow Russia's threats to deter us from fulfilling our promise to the Georgian people. The resolution sends a persistent message of hope to the Georgian people, reaffirming the EU's unwavering support for their democratic aspirations and EU membership.
People’s Republic of China’s misinterpretation of the UN resolution 2758 and its continuous military provocations around Taiwan
The European Parliament has strongly supported the resolution concerning the People's Republic of China's misinterpretation of UN Resolution 2758 and its ongoing military provocations around Taiwan. This resolution is crucial as it highlights the critical situation in Taiwan.China is adopting an increasingly aggressive stance as it seeks to exploit opportunities while the West is preoccupied with situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. The military pressure on Taiwan is intensifying. At the same time, China is attempting to mainstream its interpretation of international law. This expanding influence must be effectively countered. The democratic framework in Taiwan deserves the full support the European Union can provide. Without a cohesive stance on democratic principles and solidarity, there is a significant risk that China will continue its unilateral military actions. The recent resolution passed by the European Parliament serves as a clear indication of solidarity with Taiwan during these challenging times. I express my strong support for this resolution.
