Deciziile noastre, ca aleși europeni, trebuie să se bazeze pe solidaritate și reciprocitate.Așa cum astăzi am sprijinit alte state membre puternic afectate de catastrofe naturale produse în 2023, la rândul nostru, dorim să primim ajutor pentru România, atunci când este nevoie. Inundațiile din 14-15 septembrie au afectat peste 20.000 de cetățeni din 24 de comune ale țării, iar ajutoarele europene au lipsit.În acest context, sperăm ca României să îi revină cât mai curând banii necesari reconstruirii infrastructurii afectate, care ar trebui alocați din același Fond de Solidaritate.Noile discuții de la Bruxelles cu privire la viitorul cadru financiar multianual ar trebui să ia în considerare aceste lecții pe care ni le-a oferit realitatea, în modul cel mai crunt, care a lăsat oamenii fără un adăpost sigur, fără hrană sau fără venituri. Trebuie să solicităm simplificarea și accelerarea procedurii de mobilizare a Fondului de Solidaritate, pentru ca ajutorul să ajungă rapid și pe deplin în regiunile afectate.

Stresses that geopolitical developments have evolved rapidly since the Strategic Compass was adopted by Member States in March 2022; calls, therefore, for a review of the Strategic Compass based on a comprehensive joint threat assessment; calls, furthermore, for the Commission and the VP/HR to present an updated version of the Strategic Compass, following this review exercise and for this to inform the preparation of the white paper on the future of European defence; stresses that such a review of the Strategic Compass should enhance EU’s contributions to the collective defence and stability across the transatlantic region, ensuring a coherent and complementary alignment with NATO’s defence strategies;
