Recalls the fundamental role of the universal service obligation (USO) in the postal sector with regard to the development of a fair single market for citizens and, consumers and SMEs; notes the trend towards a narrower scope for the USO; recognises the benefits of the Keep Me Posted EU campaign to promote consumer choice;

8a. Calls on the Commission to launch measures addressing the non-transparent system of terminal dues in order for consumers and businesses, in particular SMEs, to be able to reap the benefits of a true single market for postal services;
