Highlights that Europeans’ diets are often not in line with recommendations for healthy eating, and that a shift in consumption patterns will be needed towards more plant-based foods and less red and processed meat, sugars, salt, and fats, which will also benefit the environment; in this regard, calls on the Commission to develop EU-guidelines to properly inform consumers on what constitutes a healthy and sustainable diet while helping Member States to integrate sustainability elements in their food-based dietary guidelines (FBDGs);
