Calls on the Council of the European Union to adopt an opinion on the proposed revision approved by the European Parliament to Council Directive 92/85/EEC on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health at work of pregnant workers and workers who have recently given birth or are breastfeeding; recalls that the proposal adopted by Parliament contains important measures in this area and to encourage parenthood, through promoting life-work balance for men and women;

6a. Calls on Member States to adopt measures to create flexibility in the organisation of working time for men and women, by promoting flexible working hours, teleworking and part-time work to care for minors and dependents, without any attendant loss of workers’ social benefits;
