Calls on the Commission and the Member States to review the Energy Taxation Directive in order to exempt from excise duty the electricity and fuels used for agricultural works and to allow Member States to subsidise 75% of the price of the electricity used for water pumping for irrigationcommend that practices and procedures be followed in agriculture that are in accordance with environmental protection policy, the principles of energy efficiency and best practice in other countries, with the aim of decreasing energy -related production costs;
