Welcomes President Obama's renewed commitment to the fight against climate change and expects this issue to be addressed in the next bilateral summit; urges the partners to agree, as early as possible, on binding commitments on the reduction of emissions; highlights the need to involve the Atlantic countries in this effort, especially because of the impact of climate change on food production, biodiversity and deforestation in Latin America and Atlantic Africa; regards it as essential that the EU and the US lead the way towards a global agreement on the regulation of airline emissions in the framework of the General Assembly of the ICAO, scheduled to take place in September 2013;
