Calls for the continuation of the two pillars of the CAP, albeit with a more consistent differentation; the second pillar should have as its objective support for agriculture as a public service in the context of its role in terms of the environment and the countryside; it would be prudent to consider transferring the measures for enhancing competitiveness (axis 1 of the second pillar) to the first pillar, as being intended to strengthen the role of agricultural producers and boost their income levels on the market;
