Considers that among factors that most influence the price transmission mechanism and the gap between consumer and producer prices, retail concentration, the extent of cooperative marketing and pricing policies, as well as speculation with agricultural commodities play a determining role; reaffirms, therefore, the importance of market regulation instruments, which are more necessary than ever in the current climate;

Draws attention to the fact that retailers take advantage of labels such as that of "fair trade products" in order to increase profit margins at the expense of the consumers; with a view to curbing such practises and controlling the use of these labels, therefore, would like to see a strategy to support and develop fair trade deployed Europe-wide;
