Believes that incorporating sustainability indicators as part of companies audited reporting should be mandatory to produce reliable, measurable and comparable information on their environmental and societal footprint; recalls in this context the existing Eurostat resource efficiency indicators which cover the consumption of materials, water, carbon and land, and show progress in areas such as waste management, environmental taxes, and R&D in eco-innovation;
