Expresses its deep concern over the planned establishment of a Russian naval base in Port Sudan for a 25-year- lease; believes this decision would bear negative repercussions for the peace and security of the Red Sea; is deeply disappointed by Sudan President Hemetti's statement of 23 February 2022 in Moscow, falsely claiming that Russia's aggression against Ukraine was to "protect" Russia; points at the particular responsibility of Sudanese authorities in providing secure passage to the CAR to Russia's Wagner group, in return for security guarantees to help Hemetti remain in power.
