Stresses that the EU should intensify policy dialogues and cooperate closely with ASEAN on the fight against transnational crime, such as money laundering and trafficking in people and drugs, counter-terrorism, non-proliferation, disarmament, anti-piracy, by ensuring the safety of the major maritime trade routes in Asia, and cyber security, while protecting freedom of expression and the free flow of information;

Recalls that it is also important to support the booming private sector wiby enhancing the dialogue andbetween European and Asian enterprises and the public- private cooperation on financial, investment, economic and trade issues and the ongoing global financial crisis; also supports all initiatives aimed at facilitating the internationalisation of European SMEs and their access to the Asian market, along the lines of the ASEAN IPR SME Helpdesk;
