Believes that the international protection of designations of origin should be guaranteed in the world trade negotiations; calls on the Commission to ensstrengthened; calls on the Commission to step up its efforts, particularly at the political level, to bring about an improvement in PGI protection in the course that the issue isof the WTO talks (either by extending the protection under Article 23 onf the agenda for the WTO talks and is recognised as such by all international partnersAgreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) to all products, or by establishing a multilateral register of PGIs), and also in the accession negotiations for new member countries joining the WTO and bilateral agreements currently being negotiated;
