Points out that giving the Europe 2020 strategy more of a territorial dimension – taking into account the particularities and different development levels of European regions – and directly involving regional and local authorities and partners in the planning and implementation of relevant programmes would lead to a greater feeling of responsibility for the goals of the strategy at all levels and would ensure a greater awareness on the ground of its objectives and resultcontribution by local and regional authorities to the effectiveness of national policies;
