Notes that under Article 49 TEU Moldova – like any other European state – has a European perspective and may apply to become a member of the Union provided it adheres to the principles of democracy, respects fundamental freedoms, human rights and minority rights, and ensures the rule of law and subject to EU absorption capacity and the ability of Moldova to face competition on the European internal market;
