Points out that increased energy security is inseparable fromtertwined with the need to move to a low-carbon economy and stresses that Member States should decide on their own energy mix in order to be as effective and efficient as possible; strongly calls, therefore, for a comprehensive strategy that builds on existing policy instruments, with the long-term objective of decarbonising the EU economy by 2050;
