Calls for proper monitoring and regular reporting to the European Parliament and Council on developments relating to the assistance as well as the continuous monitoring of conditions and objectives; calls for the European Union to put in place strict control mechanisms to ensure transparent and efficient management of funds, ensuring that they are used in accordance with agreed objectives and avoiding any misappropriation or misuse; stresses the need for the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) to carry out investigations, including on-the-spot checks and inspections, in order for the Commission and the Court of Auditors to carry out in- depth audits, both during and after the availability period of the MFA;
