Welcomes the Commission’s proposal, in its 2030 Biodiversity Strategy, to have at least 30 % of sea area in the EU protected; considers that these objectives should be part of Member State development strategies and should be proposed and agreed by them, always in close coordination and cooperation with local communities, entities and authorities and the municipal councils, thereby encouraging local management;
