Further notes the potential of the Cohesion Fund for possibly reducing the marked differences in road transport safety levels in towns and cities in the different Member States; in view of the number of deaths and injuries on the roads each year, considers that safety should be a criterion in planning, funding and other activities connected with sustainable mobility.
