Calls on the Commission and the Member States and regional and local authorities to look into the lack of professional qualifications in the fishing sector, so that training programmes for people working in the fishing sector can be guaranteed and tailored to the sector’s actual needs, thereby helping to retain the population in fishing communities as well as to create appropriate job opportunities in aquaculture, rural and coastal areas, in the outermost regions as well as regions depending on fisheries activities;
