WelcomNotes the fact that, according to the Convergence Report, in the reference year 2013 Lithuania had a budget deficit of 2.1% and a government debt of 39.4% of Gross Domestic Product, and therefore fulfils this convergence criterion; notes the fact that to meet the criteria, severe austerity measures such as increased retirement age and cuts in public servants' salaries have been put forward which has caused high unemployment to 12.40% in the first quarter of 2014 and increased income inequality;
