Welcomes the statement by the Interparliamentary Conference on ‘Improving National Accountability of EU funds’ held in The Hague on 28-29 January 2010, recommending that national policy instruments be implemented or strengthened to contribute to the improvement of the control and management of EU expenditure in Member States, and that instruments used for the management and accountability of EU funding, such as the annual reports, should contain elements of a common EU framework in order to make comparisons and identify ‘best practices’, as well as taking a step forward to national management declarations;
