Regrets that differences between national standards, such as in the freight and logistics sector, remain a barrier to the internal market, and therefore calls on the Commission to mandate the drawing up of appropriate standards and, where necessary, to make them legally binding; points out, moreover, that standardisation can significantly contribute to reducing the administrative burden and transport costs for all businesses (e.g. e-documents) and can facilitate the proper enforcement of EU legislation (e.g. digital tachographs, electronic toll systems); underlines in this respect the need to seek a cross-modal harmonisation of standards;
