Urges the Commission and Council, therefore, to further encourage third countries to make express provision for women's rights in their legislation, in particular, legislation to protect girls and women from violence, to guarantee that those rights are respected, and to implement gender-sensitive policies, and mechanisms to ensure that women are more closely involved in decision making in public life, be this in the political, economic or social spheres;
