Takes the view that the overall decarbonisation goal necessitates a substantial reduction in transport emissions, which implies a further development of alternative fuels, improvements of efficiency of means of transport, as well as a substantial rise in electricity use and thus high levels of investments in electricity infrastructure, grid management and energy storage; notes that quick action is needed to avoid being locked into a higher emission path on account of the long lifecycle of infrastructure.
