D. whereas EVD is not only a public health catastrophe but has also long-lasting psychological, social and economic effects on women and girls in particular; whereas following the death of a relative, the stigma for women and girls persists, e.g. in terms of inheritance rights and as orphans, while the closing down of schools also increases the risks of teenage pregnancy, child marriage and violence against women;
