LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision 2009/323/JHA adjusting the basic salaries and allowances applicable to Europol staff.
CONTENT: the Council unanimously decided, based on a French initiative, to adjust the basic salaries and allowances of officials of Europol, on the basis of a review.
This adaptation takes account of the review of remuneration of officials of Europol by the Management Board of Europol. In particular, this review takes into consideration the changes in the cost of living in the Netherlands, as well as of the changes in salaries in the public service in the Member States. The review period runs from 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007 and justifies an increase of 1.7% of remuneration for the period from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008.
A table shows the exact amount of basic monthly salaries of Europol staff at all levels and grades of the European Civil Service.

The European Parliament adopted by 595 votes to 60 with 18 abstentions, a legislative resolution approving unamended, under the consultation procedure, the initiative of the French Republic on the proposal for a Council decision adjusting the basic salaries and allowances applicable to EUROPOL staff.
The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs adopted the report by Agustín DIAZ de MERA GARCIA CONSUEGRA (EPP-ED, ES) and approved the initiative of the French Republic on the proposal for a Council decision adjusting the basic salaries and allowances applicable to Europol staff.
PURPOSE: to adjust the basic salaries and allowances applicable to Europol staff.

CONTENT: the draft decision, based on a French initiative, aims to review the remuneration of Europol officials based on the changes in the cost of living in the Netherlands, as well as of the changes in salaries in the public service in the Member States.
