Events
PURPOSE: to nominate Kadri SIMSON (EE) as a member of the European Commission.
PROPOSED ACT: Council Decision.
ROLE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: the Council adopts the act after consulting the European Parliament but without being obliged to follow its opinion.
CONTENT: following a letter dated 8 July 2019 from the Prime Minister of Estonia, addressed to Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Council proposes to nominate Kadri SIMSON (EE) as a member of the European Commission.
In the light of the early resignation of Vice-President, Andrus Ansip, from the European Commission, Kadri Simson shall also be the candidate for the Member of the current European Commission in accordance with Article 246 of the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union.
