Is concerned, however, at the reduction in the COSME budget line 02 02 02 ‘Improving access to finance for SMEs - equity and debt’, as SMEs and microenterprises still face difficulties in finding appropriate funding; believes that developing a right business environment by improving private venture capital frameworks for SMEs and microenterprises, facilitating access to finance, producing sound legislation and fully applying the ‘Think Small First’ principle across the single market is crucial and could support growth and job creation;

Acknowledges the allocation of financing for internal market governance tools, including SOLVIT; recalls the importance of strengthening and streamlining existing tools for SMEs in order to simplify their cross-border expansion; urges the Commission and the Member States to place greater emphasis on streamlining and improving Product Contact Points and Points of Single Contact; believes that further efforts are also needed to ensure that existingthese tools operate well together, with a view to maximising the added value of allocated resources; encourages the initiative for a Single Digital Gateway;
