5a. Urges the Union, through its institutions, to comply in full with its Charter of Fundamental Rights and respect the absolute limits laid down by it for action in all areas, including measures of an economic nature likely to have a major impact on the life of its citizens;

Believes that in the future, with due regard to the distribution of competences between the EU and its Member States and the progress made towards deepening economic and monetary union, consideration should be given to introducing unified external representation of the EU and the euro area within the IMF and other international economic forums, in order to allow the EU to exploit its potential fully and to increase its relevance and influence within the global economic and financial architecture;
